  257. Once upon a time there was a very short girl who went by the
  258. name of Scientific Sue.  One fine day Sue went walking through
  259. Whacky Wood.  There was no food at Whacky Wood, so Sue carried
  260. with her a BIG basket FULL of goodies she loved to SUP on. 
  261. "What a lovely blue sky," thought Sue.  "There's a rock down
  262. there by the BEND in the river - a BIG mighty rock, just fine
  263. for sitting on.  I'll take my basket down there and - OUCH!" 
  264.  
  265. Sue jumped up high and fell with a crash - someone had poked
  266. her with a very sharp stick.  "Who poked me with a very sharp
  267. stick?" asked Sue, looking around her.  "Twas I," snarled a
  268. rude SKINNY girl with the knobbliest knees Sue had ever seen. 
  269. "Well you shouldn't have," said Sue, shaking a finger at the
  270. girl, "You might have poked my eye right out."  "What's in the
  271. basket shorty," said the rude and SKINNY girl, "I'm hungry and
  272. I'm looking for food."  "Oh," said Sue frowning, "there's no
  273. FOOD in Whacky Wood.  But you can have some of mine.  I'm
  274. Scientific Sue," said Scientific Sue proudly.  "They call me
  275. Snotty", said Snotty, fumbling with her red handkerchief. 
  276. Secretly, Snotty thought Sue a bit of a SQUARE, but she had
  277. long since tired of being the skinniest girl in Whacky Wood
  278. and a GOOD feed was exactly what she needed.
  279.  
  280. They had not gone far when they heard a rustling in the
  281. branches above them.  "What's that rustling?" whispered Sue. 
  282. Suddenly a long haired boy came swinging out of the tree. 
  283. "Look out Scientific Sue!" cried Snotty, wielding her stick. 
  284. "Stay back SKINNY girl - I meant no harm," said the boy.  "I'm
  285. Barney and this is my tree."  "I'm Sue," said Sue, still a
  286. little dazed, "and this is my friend Snotty.  We're on our way
  287. to that BIG mighty rock by the BEND in the river to have a
  288. picnic."  "But there's no food in Whacky Wood," said Barney,
  289. shaking his head, a little confused.  "But Scientific Sue has
  290. a basket FULL of goodies to SUP on," said Snotty, then taking
  291. Barney aside she whispered, "She's a bit of a SQUARE, but
  292. she's got enough food for all of us."  "And I have a flask of
  293. tea!" cried Barney.  "HURRAH!" they cried, and once again they
  294. set off for the mighty BIG rock.
  295.  
  296. They had not gone far when a BIG-eyed, wiry limbed creature
  297. came hurtling across their path and darted into the bushes. 
  298. "What was that?" said Barney, shaking his head, a little
  299. confused.  From deep in the rustling bushes they heard the
  300. BIG-eyed wiry creature whine, "Oh me! Oh my! I have lost my
  301. bread and there is NO food in Whacky Wood."  "Hey You!"
  302. hollered Snotty, "this is Scientific Sue and SHE has a basket
  303. FULL of goodies to SUP on."  Slowly the boy emerged from the
  304. bushes.  "Come along now, don't be shy," coaxed Sue, "this is
  305. Barney and this is Snotty, and we're on our way to that BIG
  306. mighty rock by the BEND in the river."  "And I'm Scooter,"
  307. said Scooter, "HURRAH!" they cried and off they set.  
  308.  
  309. And as they were walking away Snotty took Scooter aside and
  310. whispered, "She's a little bit of a SQUARE, but she's got
  311. enough food, for all of us."  And high up on a hill, way above
  312. Whacky Wood, Brian, the very wiseman, smiled and watched them
  313. WALK AWAY.
